We offer no-cost tutoring to students grade K-12 who would benefit from additional instruction in Math, Reading, Writing and Public Speaking. Sessions are led by local college students and community members and our on-site library provides easy access to additional resources that can help your child excel.

Are you an Honors High School Student, College Student or Seasoned Educator looking to make a difference in our local community? Or do you need community service hours to fulfill your degree requirements?

  • Applicant Qualification Criteria
    Minimum Age: Volunteers or Interns must be at least 16 years old Fingerprinted Background Check: Our tutoring center will require volunteers and interns to undergo a scheduled criminal fingerprinted background check (annually) to ensure the safety of the students they'll be working with. Subject Proficiency: Volunteers should have a strong understanding of the subjects they will be tutoring in, within the subject they are assisting such math, science, language arts, or other disciplines. High School and College Students will be required to provide an up-to-date transcript. Seasoned Teachers or Retired Teachers must provide a resume, references, and transcripts of education level.
  • What We Expect from Applicants
    Great Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are essential for explaining concepts clearly and building rapport with students. Candidate must have effective communication in order to be successful within this position. Patience and Empathy: Volunteers MUST demonstrate patience and empathy when working with students who may be struggling with their studies. Commitment: A commitment to our tutoring schedule is important to ensure consistency and reliability for the students who rely on the center's services.The candidate must be willing to attend tutoring sessions when scheduled. Training: Our center provides online and in person training sessions and workshops to equip volunteers with the necessary tutoring techniques and strategies. Flexibility: Volunteers and Interns may need to adapt to the diverse learning needs of students and be flexible in their approach to tutoring. Teamwork: Collaboration with other tutors and team members are encouraged to create a supportive learning environment.
